About Pharma Mithra

Pharma Mithra lets a pharmaceutical business confirm, in seconds, that the firm it is about to buy from or sell to holds a valid drug licence.

Why it matters

Under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, a distributor, stockist or pharmacy may trade in medicines only with licensed parties. In practice that check is still done by looking at a photocopy of a licence - which is slow, easy to forge, and says nothing about whether the licence has since expired, been suspended or been cancelled.

A forged or lapsed licence in the supply chain is how substandard and spurious medicines reach patients. Checking the licence properly, every time, is the simplest defence there is.

What we do

You enter a licence number and the state that issued it. Pharma Mithra checks it against official records and tells you who holds it, what it covers, and whether it is in force. Beyond drug licences, the platform also checks GST registrations, FSSAI licences and pharmacist registrations, so a new trading partner can be vetted in one place.

How we think about accuracy

A verification tool is only useful if you can trust a "yes", and only fair if a "no" means something. So when we cannot confirm a licence, we say exactly that - that it could not be confirmed - rather than telling you a real business is unlicensed. And where the details on record are wrong, anyone can ask us to correct them.
